People are afraid of mentioning Ahlul Bayt (People of the House-referring to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) family) because they fear they will be labeled-- they want to stay clean, so to speak.
But cleanliness, in reality, comes from closeness to Ahlul Bayt
Many people claim that right now is not the right time to talk about the about Ahlul Bayt, but why not?
Why do we continue to censor the Prophet, peace be upon him? This should not be at our discretion.
I find this video very interesting because this is a phenomenon that I have myself witnessed. A recent story I can relate is the following. Sister Zeynab and I were sitting at the daw'ah table, and we had some nasheeds on. I put on this particular one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rhq8XYOSNeo) about Ahlul Bayt, and someone actually stopped and told us that we should not play this nasheed because it is a Shi'a nasheed! Subhan'allah! This isn't the only experience I've had though. Many people forget that it is obligatory upon us to love Ahlul Bayt. Ironically, that is exactly what this particular nasheed was about. It seems this particular person was not listening carefully, but rather heard the names Ali (ra), Hassan (ra) and Hussein (ra), and heard the tune, and assumed it was a Shi'a nasheed. *sigh* Don't get me started on the discrimination faced by our Shi'a brothers and sisters...

ReplyDeleteThese are the lyrics of the nasheed:
DeleteInna fil jannati nahran min laban
Surely, in paradise, is a river of milk
Li `Aliyyin wa Husainin wa Hasan
For Ali, and Hussain, and Hasan
Kullu man kana muhibban lahumu
Whosoever loves them
Kullu man sara `ala darbihimu
Whosoever goes forth upon their path
Yadkhulu ljannata min ghairi hazan
Enters paradise without experiencing any sadness
Hubbu ahlil bayti fardun `indana
Love of the People of the Prophetic Household is incumbent upon us
Wa bi hathal hubbi la nakhshal mihan
And because of this love, we do not fear tribulations
